About
River Ian Kerstetter is a queer trans artist, designer, writer, and educator of Onʌyota'a:ka (Oneida) and European-American heritage, who grew up in occupied Pueblo lands (central New Mexico) and now lives and works in occupied Potawatomi lands (Chicago). She is a citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.
River is a contributor and social media lead at Sixty Inches From Center, a collective of writers, editors, artists, curators, librarians, and archivists who publish and produce collaborative projects about artists, archival practice, art history, and culture in Chicago and the Midwest.
River is also a co-founder of TIES poetry readings with Patrick Del Percio, and Fruit Punch Press with H. Melt.
Previously River was a co-founder with charles ryan long of the print and papermaking project PansyGuild, a founding member of Vecinos Artist Collective, a New Mexico collective that partnered with community to create collaborative, multidisciplinary art from parade floats to poetry workshops, and was named a SITE Scholar by SITE Santa Fe.
River holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book & Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago, and a BFA in Art & Ecology from the University of New Mexico.
River’s pronouns are she/her/hers and they/them/theirs.
